Nokia regains leadership of Finnish handset market

Nokia regains leadership of Finnish handset market
Perhaps it isn't that unexpected that Nokia is the top selling mobile phone in Finland. After all, that is the country that hosts the handset manufacturer's headquarters. But Q1 data revealed that Korean OEM Samsung had taken the top spot from Nokia. The latest data for the second quarter from IDC shows Nokia with a 36% share, leading Samsung by 2%. Nokia recaptured the lead by taking business away from Apple. The Cupertino based tech titan saw its market share in the country get cut in half to 7% from 14% during the second quarter.

Finnish operators credited the expansion of the Lumia range in the country for Nokia's strength during the period from April through June. By adding more price points to the Lumia line, Nokia can now cover demand for all economic demographics in Finland. This is pointed out by TeliaSonera’s Communications Director Timo SaxĂ©n who notes that Nokia Lumia models now cover the entire range of buyers.

At the low end, Nokia has the sizzling hot Nokia Lumia 520its top selling phone at the moment. At the high-end is the Nokia Lumia 1020 with its 41MP PureView camera.
