BlackBerry's BBM chat coming to Android, iPhone this weekend

(Reuters) - BlackBerry Ltd said on Wednesday that its popular BlackBerry Messenger instant chat application will be available for rival devices using Google Inc's Android software and for Apple's iPhone this weekend.

The struggling Canadian smartphone maker had announced plans to open up the service, often referred to as BBM by both fans and the company, back in May.
Once a unique tool to send short messages without running up SMS charges, BBM now competes with mobile instant messaging products from Facebook, Apple and others, and less directly with the micro-blogging service Twitter.
Android users will be able to download the application on Saturday, while iPhone users can get it on Sunday.

iOS7 GM Seed Gold Master final build 11A465 with Activation for iPad 2nd generation Wi-Fi + 3G GSM Model

iOS7 GM Seed Gold Master final build 11A465 with Activation for iPad 2nd generation Wi-Fi + 3G GSM Model

No need for a dev. account.
This is pretty much ios 7 Pre-Lease for developers the same ios 7 that's going to be released on September 18, 2013 to the public. This may have a few glitches most of the glitches, crashes have been fixed and this is like the final version. Just to let you know if you do upgrade to the ios you can get back to ios 6.1.3 just be booting into DFU mode and restore to ios 6.1.3.

If your trying to sync over content from pc to ipod you need iTunes 11.1/beta which at this point it's only available for Mac.

Just hold Shift,restore/update and then select the .ipsw and install.

If you don't like ios 7 GM you can downgrade it only to ios 6.1.3 not ios 7 beta 1-6. at the moment but, if you want to upgrade to ios 7 from ios 6.1.3 you can.

I'll Post the official release once it comes out.

This ios 7 GM was only for developers and shouldn't be able to install onto ios devices without a dev account but, the bug allowed it to be installed.

Other info:
You should just wait for the final release next week it's sorta pointless to update to ios 7 GM if you can't sync over content via iTunes if you all ready have everything you want on your ipod you can.Once ios 7 is released this downgrade will no longer work and you can never downgrade past ios 7 the reason you can downgrade now is because, ios 7 GM isn't signed yet, but when the official iOS 7 is released it will be signed which you can't no longer downgrade.

I tested out iOS 7 GM today it was good but, i couldn't sync over my music without iTunes 11.1 which isn't out for PC so, i recovered to iOS 6.1.3 and i can always upgrade to iOS 7 beta and sync over my content.

Bugs i found:

-Voice Search in youtube still crashes
-iTunes Store still crashes

New Features for iOS 7 GM:

-New Wallpapers
-New Dynamic theme colors
-New Siri Sounds
-fixed bugs and glitches

In conclusion iOS 7 beta 6 is no different from iOS 7 GM just with a couple of new enhancements and themes.

According to apple if you upgrade to iOS 7 GM seed you can't restore to earlier versions of iOS such as ios 6.1.3 [image below]. LIES

You can only downgrade a iOS only if it's not singed.

Verizon HTC One Featured in Amazing Deal

Those looking to buy the Verizon HTC One will surely want to take a look at a deal that has the device priced $100 below Verizon’s $199.99 on-contract asking price.
In August, after months of toying with customers, Verizon released the HTC One, a device that had arrived on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile all the way back in April. The device, which arrived with the same features as its competitors, was made available for $199.99 on-contract. Almost immediately though, we saw some deals on the device with some retailers slashing $50 off Verizon’s asking price.
Those who waited to buy though will find even cheap pricing available as both Amazon and Dell are offering enticing deals on Verizon’s version of the HTC One.

Amazon is offering the device to new customers for $119.99 on-contract. Those who are looking to upgrade will find that the price jumps up to $129.99 which is still much cheaper than the Verizon HTC One price at Verizon. However, it’s Dell that is offering an amazing deal on the HTC One for new and upgrading customers.
Dell is currently offering the Verizon HTC One to new customers for $99.99, a full $100 cheaper than Verizon’s sticker. What’s more is that the company will throw in a pair of uBeats headphones which are a $99 value. That is an incredible deal for a device that is only a few weeks old. Those upgrading will find a $119.99 price tag, same as Amazon’s price for new customers.

These are fantastic offers for those that are looking for something not called Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or iPhone 5S as the HTC One is still one of the best smartphones on the market.
It includes a 4.7-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, Ultrapixel camera, Sense 5 and Verizon’s device runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. HTC says that it will be updating the HTC One in the U.S. to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in September but it still has not set a date.

Surface Pro 2 Rumors Point to Better Battery Life, User Experience

New leaked specs for Microsoft’s second generation Surface computing tablets have emerged, and the updated specs on these slate devices will provide users with a better experience thanks to significantly improved battery life with the inclusion of Intel’s latest Haswell processors. The Pro model, which is expected to debut with Windows 8.1 pre-loaded, will come preloaded with a power sipping Intel Core i5 processor based on theHaswell architecture.
As the original Surface Pro currently offers about 4 to 6 hours of computing time on a single charge, Haswell’s inclusion should make the second generation Pro go for at least 8 hours without requiring a recharge. This would allow Microsoft to boast all-day computing for enterprise customers who are concerned of staying charged through the day using the first generation Surface Pro.
The Surface Pro 2 is rumored to come with more RAM, Intel Haswell Core i5 processor, and improved battery life over the first generation model it replaces.
The Surface Pro 2 is rumored to come with more RAM, Intel Haswell Core i5 processor, and improved battery life over the first generation model it replaces.
Other specs bump include doubling the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB. This will likely be a noticeable increase on the Pro 2 as multitasking will be more fluid and things should feel snappier when using legacy Windows app. As the Surface is perceived firstly as a tablet–though its specs and performance is perhaps more closely aligned with an Ultrabook class of products–consumers will expect things to be snappy, fast, and quick similar to lighter Android-based consumer tablets and the Apple iPad.
And according to Neowin, the design will stay largely similar, though it’s now said that Microsoft will improve the Surface’s kickstand. The kickstand, along with the keyboard cover that magnetically attaches to the tablet, are hallmarks of Microsoft’s computing line.
The second-generation slate will have to compete with the Sony VAIO Tap 11, a device with a similar form factor to the Surface Pro. On Sony’s you’ll have a two-piece setup where the keyboard isn’t magnetically attached to the tablet display portion. Rather, the keyboard, when the computer is in use, is a separate piece that connects wirelessly to the screen. The good is that the wireless connection is more flexible overall. The bad is that we’re not sure if this will translate to a good experience for lap users.
Additionally, the device will also have to ASUS’ Transformer Book, a device that got similar bumps in specs, including moving from an Intel Ivy Bridge to Intel Haswell processor and doubling the RAM from 4 to 8 GB.
Microsoft is said to be working on a new series of ad campaigns for the Surface devices that serve to educate the consumer on the power and potential of the tablet. Current ads are more playful with dancing and tapping, but may not show the consumers what the devices are capable of.
As far as pricing information, that hasn’t been leaked yet, but Microsoft is believed to be keeping the price about the same between the Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2–it’s unclear if the recent discounts on the Surface Pro will be taken into consideration with the Surface Pro 2′s pricing, or if the Pro 2 will debut at the same prices that the original Surface Pro came with at launch.
In addition to the Pro 2, Microsoft may have a second generation Surface RT as well. Additionally, recently acquired Nokia is said to be working on a Surface-like design based on the Windows RT architecture; it’s unclear what the fate of that device will be.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update Likely Coming Soon

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will likely roll out sometime in the near future as Samsung announced that it would be bringing Galaxy Gear compatibility in an update sometime in the future.
At the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch event today, Samsung also announced the Samsung Galaxy Gear, a new piece of wearable technology that Galaxy smartphone and tablet users will be able to use to conveniently answer phone calls or messages using Bluetooth. Samsung announced today that the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 2014 Edition will support it immediately but that it will be rolling out updates for the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2.
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update should hit Samsung's older devices soon.
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update should hit Samsung’s older devices soon.
Given that Android 4.3 comes with Bluetooth Low Energy, it’s assumed that the updates that Samsung is referring to are Android 4.3 updates that have been rumored for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. Samsung has already rolled out Android 4.3 for the Galaxy S4 Google Edition so it was only a matter of time before the Galaxy S4 got its update.
Samsung announced that the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will get their updates sometime in October, declining to offer a specific time frame for the Galaxy S4 update. However, given that the Galaxy S4 is the company’s flagship and in the hands of millions of consumers, we expect the company to get the device upgraded sometime in the near future as well so that users can take advantage of the Galaxy Gear.
Exactly when, of course, remains unclear but given that Samsung did not explicitly say October, perhaps it means that the software will land sometime in September.

Of course, this timing refers to the unbranded versions of the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3 and likely the Galaxy S4 as well. Carriers will have to approve updates for arrival, something that often takes awhile in regions like the United States.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear will hit the United States in October, no specific dates known, and the Galaxy Gear should retail for $299. The price of the Galaxy Note 3 is still unknown though it will likely arrive for $299 as well. Both will run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean right out of the box.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 U.S. Release Date Details

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 U.S. release date is coming after the rest of the world gets to buy the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
At the tail end of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3event Samsung announced the U.S. Galaxy Note 3 release date would arrive in October, after the September 25th worldwide release date.
This is not surprising as Samsung devices normally arrive in the U.S. after a global launch, but it is disappointing news for shoppers that want to buy a AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Galaxy Note 3.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 U.S. Release date is confirmed for October.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 U.S. Release date is confirmed for October.
While there is no specific Samsung Galaxy Note 3 U.S. release dates announced, all appearances point to a fast Note 3 release in the U.S. and Samsung could deliver an AT&T Galaxy Note 3 release date in early October. Samsung and AT&T are tight partners and AT&T was one of the first in the U.S. to offer the Galaxy S4.
The good news about today’s announcement is that the major U.S. carriers are all on board for the Galaxy Note 3, which means we should see carriers pushing to get the device out near the same time.
After AT&T, expect a T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 option with a Sprint Galaxy Note 3 soon after. The U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 3 could come at any time after AT&T, but based on past moves a Verizon Galaxy Note 3 release date could be dead last.
The Verizon Galaxy Note 3 release date could be last.
The Verizon Galaxy Note 3 release date could be last.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 comes in 32GB and 64GB storage sizes and U.S. carriers may opt to only offer the 32GB model, or one carrier could offer a Galaxy Note 3 64GB as an exclusive. The device is available in black, white and pink, and we could see special color options arrive later down the line.
Samsung switched out the plastic back of the Galaxy Note 2 for a faux leather back on the Galaxy Note 3. This may help appease users that don’t like the plastic feel of Samsung devices. The Galaxy Note 3 still features a removable back and a 3200 mAh battery plus a Micro SD card slot.

There are new S Pen features like Air Command, which lets users quickly call up five S Pen apps or actions from any screen. There are also enhanced multitasking capabilities with the ability to use two of the same app in Multi-Window mode and a new Pen Window option that can call up an app in a window the user draws on the screen.
Samsung also added a new Multi Vision Group Play feature that lets users link up three Galaxy Note 3 screens to form one big screen for watching videos.
There is no Samsung Galaxy Note 3 price yet, but U.S. carriers will likely charge around $299 on release, as it seems the top end U.S. consumers are willing to pay.

Details on Pocket App Hints at Companion Nature of the Galaxy Gear

Samsung might be pushing the Samsung Galaxy Gear, it’s first entry into wearable computing, as a device that will define a new consumer electronics class, but if the blog post detailing the features users can expect from the Pocket application for the device is an accurate indication, the device may be even more focused on companion experiences than originally thought.
Shortly after Samsung wrapped up its IFA 20013 press event, Pocket detailed the experiences Samsung Galaxy Gear users can expect from their application when the smartwatch launches later this year.
According to the blog post, Pocket for the Samsung Galaxy Gear won’t allow users to browse their news stories, instead the application will act like a second screen to the version that runs on Samsung smartphones. Users will be able to use the application’s Text-to-Speech systems to listen to articles they are interested in without having to remove their smartphone from their pocket. Users will be also be able to pause and control audio playback from the Galaxy Gear.
Pocket on the Samsung Galaxy Gear.
Pocket on the Samsung Galaxy Gear.

While being able to listen to articles using the device isn’t a small feature, the relatively light feature set of one of the first applications for the device highlights a problem that users purchasing the Samsung Galaxy Gear this fall will have to contend with. Since the Galaxy Gear depends on the user having a Samsung device to pair it with for a mobile internet connection, users will have to decide if its $299 price tag is worth it.
If the device’s applications can’t act on their own accord, it’s likely that most users would consider that another strike against a device that Samsung is hoping will capture the imagination of users before Apple enters the market with the iWatch that many industry insiders have been predicting for some time.
In addition to running applications on its 1.6-inch Super AMOLED screen, users will able be able to answer phone calls and monitor their email inbox using the Galaxy Gear.
So far, Samsung has yet detail how users will get applications for the Samsung Galaxy Gear when it debuts this September internationally, and October in the United States.
